My Experience with The Atkins Diet
A personal experience with the Atkins Diet
It was indeed a ludicrous experiment for me to try the Atkins diet, since I cannot eat dairy products, and I am not quite fond of meats. I also don’t like eggs and particularly egg yolks. I do have a sweet tooth that seems incurable. Nonetheless, I needed to lose weight that I’d gained during the summer, and I was trying to find an instant relief, so I plunged into the Induction Phase.
I prefer beef jerky and I also learnt that I wasn’t really allergic to dairy, but only to cow’s milk. So my diet was goat cheese and beef jerky. Goat cheese is terribly bad for me and so I coupled it with crackers, although crackers were not permitted. I chewed beef turkey for a few days, which seemed to be a good option, since I loved sacking. Goat cheese was always there along with some dry soy nuggets with artificial sweeteners and plenty of diet soda.
On the very third day, I arranged a garage sale. But I could hardly stand on my feet when I woke up in the morning, this happened after two full diet days. For me, it wasn’t due to the dietary restrictions or dairy allergy, it as simply due to lack of energy that I was experiencing. After struggling for some time, I thought I should just give it up. I did! With such a health condition, I couldn’t even dream of exercising.
If I only didn’t have the allergy and exhaustion, I think I would have enjoyed this diet. I would happily accept the whipped cream with vanilla and some dessert with artificial sweeteners without even needing a steak. There are many healthy recipes contained in the Atkins diet.
Also, my attitude toward the diet was aid back. Has I bee a bit serious about it and eaten the veggies like broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower and avocado, I would have succeeded, I guess. If only I had not taken up Atkins Diet Extreme and eat only goat cheese and beef jerky, I would have survived the diet.
A strict budget wouldn’t allow you to follow the Atkins diet rigidly. It can become a constant worry for you to cook steaks and chicken breasts all the time and shop for fresh veggies and goat cheese only. In fact, without the family’s cooperation, it can be really difficult to be on this diet.
I would recommend that you choose tasty vegetables, cheeses and meats for a budget that you can afford. You can have a bit of everything in proper moderations. But avoid too much of beef jerky.
