Low Carb Breakfasts

If you have to sacrifice toast, biscuits, pancakes and waffles, breakfast would seem to be next to impossible. But do you know that there are many such good food ideas that can contribute to your low carb breakfast plan.

Ideas for Low Carb Breakfasts

It is a fact that popular breakfast choices involve the use of proteins, fats and carbs. For most of us, protein breakfasts are usually heavier than the carbohydrate counterparts.


Eggs are usually restricted for sometimes eliminated when you are on a low-calorie or low-fat diet, but they are surprisingly welcome and encourages on these low carb diets. You are even allowed to eat whole eggs instead of egg whites only. It is indeed very difficult to find more versatile food choices than eggs. Boiled, poached, scrambled or fried; you can choose any of the given options.

Take some of these ideas to prepare eggs for breakfast:

  • Add different veggies that are allowed including tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, peppers and spinach.
  • You can also have meat like steak, bacon, ham, chicken breast and ground beef.
  • Be creative; add seafood to your diet. Crab, lobster, shrimp and oysters are really tasty.
  • Try variety of cheeses – cream cheese with mushroom and spinach on your basic omelet, sharp cheddar with strips, onions, peppers and sour cream also gives a delicious flavor.

Eggs with Cored Beef

Low-carb corned beef can be a good choice as well. Take a pan and melt some butter, add some crumbled corned beef and then stir fry. Add whisked egg and keep stirring until your eggs are fully done.

Scrambled Eggs

The traditional scrambled egg is a good choice and tastes good too. But if you are bored with that, add some dressings to make it flavorsome. Just sauté vegetables or meat in the pan and pour in eggs, and get it scrambled. You can add:

  • Ground beef with tomatoes and onions
  • Onions, peppers and chicken breasts. Top it with some cheese after cooking.
  • Bell peppers, onions and tomatoes

Fried Eggs

After mastering the art of frying eggs, you can try to make some changes from time to time for a variation:

  • If you really miss those egg fried sandwiches, top it with a cheese slice, a slice of ham, some mayo and have it with a fork.
  • Sauté meat or veggies I butter and carefully crack your egg over these. Cook slowly in a low flame.
  • Add sliced tomatoes for topping.

Boiled Eggs

For easy and really quick breakfast you can take boiled eggs. Just boil eggs and store them in your refrigerator. Adding some turkey and sting cheese would make it wholesome.

Low Carb Specialty Items

If you want to eat a low carb breakfast, you can have some specialty items, well; it’s all thanks to the Atkins diet that gives you a chance to eat low carb versions of tortillas and bread, muffins, waffles and pancakes. These aren’t cheap item, though. Also you cannot have them when you are on a weight loss program.

Dinner as Breakfast

There isn't any law stating that breakfast needs to contain some pre-defined foods only. Some low carb diets incorporate a mix of traditional meals for a breakfast. If you have some leftover steak, you can have it for your breakfast. Like that! Healthy and low carb!
