Create a music playlist.

If you are working out without any type of motivation or background noise, you will be stuck with your thoughts, and this can make exercise boring. Instead of being distracted, you will focus on the actual exercise, and you may give up because you’re either bored or because it hurts. When you have a great workout playlist on your iPod, you can have more fun when you workout. The upbeat music will keep you motivated to continue your workout, and you can become distracted by the song and sing along instead of worry about how much it may hurt or how long it may be taking.

Take an exercise or aerobics class.

If you are just walking aimlessly around the gym by yourself, it can make exercising boring. However, if you take an exercise or aerobics class, it can be more exciting. You will have a variety of other people in the class with you, and you’ll have specific instructions to follow. Also, if you take a class like dance or cycling, you’ll usually have loud upbeat music and your teacher keeping you motivated. This can make exercising more entertaining and exciting.

Don’t exercise alone.

Sometimes exercising alone can make it boring. Instead, it’s a good idea to partner up with a friend when you exercise. When you’re exercising with a friend, you will be more motivated to continue your exercises, and you can even have fun with it. You can talk with your friend while you work out, or you can even make a small competition out of it. This can be a great way to make exercising more fun and keep you on the road to being healthy.

Working out can be more enjoyable if you provide yourself with an incentive. For example, maybe you treat yourself to a fat-free yogurt after one full week of complete workouts, or maybe you allow yourself to sleep in on the weekends if you work out every weekday. This way, if you know that you are working out in order to receive some type of perk, you’ll be more likely to stick with it and make it more enjoyable.

Geocaching is a new craze that can provide you with a fun way to exercise. Through geocaching, people use a GPS system (or other location tracking device) to search out containers placed throughout the world. You then sign the logbook claiming that you found the item, and then you move on to another geocaching assignment. This can be a great way to exercise because it will take you on many different adventures. You may find yourself hiking through a national park or walking/jogging through an open field. Either way, you’ll be getting some great exercise while serving a purpose. Because you’ll be so determined to locate the item, you will not even pay attention to how much physical exercise you’re getting, making it more enjoyable.
