| Home Remedies For Cleaning LimestoneLimestone is one of the toughest stone surfaces to clean. This is true whether it is a floor or wall in your house or outside your home. People often resort to using commercial chemical solutions to take care of this problem but often these are very unsafe to inhale and they can cause allergies. Not only that but the chemical solution could possibly damage the surface of the limestone floor. Therefore, people often are in search of an alternative way to do this job. There is actually a way to do this at home using home ingredients versus using commercial products. Your OptionsDishwashing liquid solution-This may not work on the hardest and most stubborn limestone deposits. However, it does have at least a moderate degree of effectiveness. All you need to do is mix a few drops of the dishwashing soap into warm water. Then, you can use a cloth, mop, sponge, or tampico brush used for this type of cleaning. You should work on small sections at a time. Then after cleaning each section you should remove any leftover residue that is left behind. While cleaning with dish soap you should remember that it is not ideal to use vinegar or lemon-based detergents. Some of the dish washing solutions you see on the market have these harsher ingredients in them that could scratch or otherwise damage the limestone surface. Six-hour water soak-Limestone floors and surfaces can also be cleaned more thoroughly using this method. All it requires is soaking the floor surface in water for several hours (an average of six). The main benefit of this cleaning method is to help get rid of dirt and mineral deposits that are more likely to be loosened and removed this way. This is a deeper cleaning method than the one described above. This method is often preferred because it can better help remove dirt and grime from the scratches and cracks that naturally occur in sections of this very precious stone surface. This deep cleaning method is also preferred because it helps better clean out the porous surfaces. Power washing-If you have a power pressure washer this can help blast dirt and grime from the pores and/or crevices of the limestone. This is a method that is most often used in commercial buildings and/or on commercial floors and the job is often carried out by a restoration professional. It may have some value you to you at your home as well. One advantage of using this method of cleaning is that you would be less likely to scratch or damage the limestone surface. After all the organic composition of the structure is quite valuable. If you do not own a machine like this it may be possible to rent one nearby. However, if you do not feel comfortable doing this job on your own it would be best to hire someone who can do it for you. |
