| Home Remedies For Cleaning WallsThere are a variety of ways to clean walls without damaging the paint or wallpaper. All it takes is using a common household cleaner and a damp cloth or sponge. The only other thing you need is a little bit of elbow grease. This is the easiest and best way to keep your wall looking as bright and as clean as possible. The tips you see below are based on the type of stain you want removed:Crayon-The effort needed to remove this substance depends on whether the crayon is washable or non-washable. All you need to do is sprinkle a little bit of baking soda onto a damp cloth or sponge and wipe the crayon away. This area should be rubbed gently and then wiped and rinsed with clean water. Markers-Washable markers are the easiest marks to remove since they are water-based. However, for the non-washable stains you might need to use some white toothpaste and a damp sponge to remove the marker spots. After you have wiped and gently scrubbed the surface areas to remove the market, then use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball to scrub it away. Tape or stickers-Tape often can be a challenge to remove off of any surface. It can be especially hard if you are trying to prevent from pulling the paint away. The best way to do this is to warm up a teaspoon and press the backside of it against the transparent tape. After a few seconds of application the tape adhesive should weaken and you should be able to pull the tape free from the paint. Stickers are removed in a similar way as tape, but it may require a little bit more effort. The stickers can be wiped with a damp vinegar cloth, after which you should let the sticker sit for 15 minutes. This can make pulling the vinegar cloth off much easier. Oil/grease stains-Sometimes these can be very tough to remove. One way to do so is to use a cornstarch and water paste. First you should create a paste out of these two ingredients that is thick enough to stick to the wall. Then, apply the paste substance to the wall and let it sit for a few hours or until dry. After it is dried you can then brush the mess away and rinse it with warm water. Scuffmarks-It is possible to remove these with an eraser. However, you should try this solution on a small spot beforehand just to make sure the paint does not rub off. If the eraser is too stiff to use and you notice it rubs off some paint then you might want to dust a sponge with baking soda. After this you should then wipe it down. Smoke stains-Some fireplace stains can be very tough to remove. One way to do so is to use ½ cup of Borax and too spoonfuls of mild dish soap along with a tablespoon of ammonia. All this should be mixed into a gallon of warm water. |
