| Home Remedies For Jewelry CleaningIf you want to clean your metal jewelry safely, a variety of safe home methods can be used to make dull jewelry shiny again. What you will be shown below is three of the most natural ways to clean your precious possessions. The tips below are recommended for different types of jewelry, so use these tips and suggestions wisely. Your OptionsDishwashing liquid-This is an all-purpose cleaner that does just about any mild cleaning job quite well. It works well on fingerprints and grime that is easily removable. All you need is a few drops of dish soap mixed with 2 cups of warm water. You can then soak the jewelry in a bowl for about 15 minutes and then rinse it clean with warm water. Afterwards, you can then rub the jewelry dry and clean with a dry towel or old T-shirt. If you are attempting to clean pearls you are advised to not submerge them into the water. If you do, it could cause stretching of the strand used to hold the pearl beads together. You should instead dip a clean cloth into the water/dish soap solution and wipe each piece of pearl carefully. You can let it dry overnight on a clean tissue or cloth. Apple cider vinegar-This is one substance that is said to help make your jewelry really shine. You can pour 1 cup of the pure vinegar into a bowl. Then, you can place the metal jewelry (particularly gold jewelry) into the bowl for about 15 minutes. Then, remove the pieces from the bowl and polish them with a clean, dry cloth. Ammonia-This is a great solution to use for cleaning diamonds. They can shine like new again. All you need to do is pour 1 cup of warm water together with ¼ cup ammonia into a clean bowl. You should mix this solution well and then set the diamonds and/or diamond jewelry into the bowl. Mix and stir the ammonia and water mixture in order to encourage the total cleansing of your diamond pieces. You should let the jewelry soak in the solution for about 20 minutes and then scrub it gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush. The area you should focus on the most should be the area between the setting and the diamond, especially if you are cleaning a diamond ring. You should then lay the diamond jewelry on a tissue and allow it to dry completely. |
